DIOPTA SUPPORTED FRIENDSHIP GAMES ORGANIZED BY NOVAK DJOKOVIC FOUNDATION

FREE EYE EXAMINATIONS FOR MORE THAN 100 CHILDREN

Caring about the health of the future generations, the leading optical retailer in the region Diopta, has started a cooperation with Novak Djokovic Foundation, by supporting their project named Friendship games. On the sixth Games, Diopta has provided free eye examinations for 129 children, aged seven to 10, from primary schools in Zagubica, Petrovac na Mlavi, Priboj, Svilajnac, Smederevska Palanka, Krusevac and Prokuplje. Our team of professionals has performed the examinations, and explained the importance of regular eye examinations to the children and their parents.

„Problems with children’s eyesight are more and more frequent, because of the high exposure to computers, television screens and mobile phones from the early age, which isn’t good. We want to teach children how to take care of their eyesight, and to let parents know if their child needs glasses or not after these Friendship games. On the other hand, we want to encourage children who wear glasses, and to let them know that it is okay, because sometimes other children make fun of them. We also want to educate them that we are all the same, and that glasses are only here to help us overcome some small obstacles“, said XX, ophthalmologist from Diopta.

The Games have been held on Kopaonik, from September 16th to 21st 2018 and it represents a short, dynamic excursion with a lot of interesting activities. During the past years more than 500 children and 140 teachers from 32 places in Serbia have participated in the programme. Thanks to Diopta, during the last Friendship Games, children have had the opportunity to get this type of medical examination for the first time, as well as advices on further medical care. As it is emphasized in the Foundation, this is just the beginning of the cooperation with Diopta.

„Friendship Games are an opportunity for the children from small communities who don’t have the chance to stay at excursions or recreational classes often, to meet and socialize, but also to make friendships, develop their skills and get the most beautiful memories they’ll remember. Diopta has been of huge help during the organization of the last one, along with their team of professionals who were excellent while working with children. All parents have received an eye examination confirmation, and got an insight into the status of their children’s eyesight“, said Maja Kremic, national director of the Novak Djokovic Foundation.

Diopta will continue supporting projects like this one, as well as working on the health education of the citizens.
